We are looking for talented Construction Managers with Water/Wastewater in the greater Seattle-Bellevue-Everett areas. Bring your knowledge and expertise as our next Civil Construction Manager - Water/Wastewater experience to develop creative solutions which help our clients make smart and strategic decisions to complete successful projects. The Civil Construction Manager - Water/Wastewater manages all day-to-day construction management activities and is the primary representative of the construction contractors and the client. The ability to anticipate and solve problems with nearly obsessive attention to detail pretty much sums up the KBA difference. Who you are:

  • Manage Inspector’s (Daily Reports) documenting quantities and quality of contractor’s performance.
    • Manage administrative staff documentation of meeting notes and correspondence.
    • Proficient in materials management, tracking, and documentation.
  • Develops working relationships with agency staff and stakeholders.
  • Understands document control for the project (i.e., materials documentation of RFI, contractor payment, contractor employment records) at an advanced level with oversight from more experienced staff.
  • Ensures accountability by holding oneself and others accountable to meet commitments.
  • Takes on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm; independently.
  • Communicates effectively by developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the project needs to external partners (i.e.: clients, consultants, and contractors).
  • Shows courage by stepping up to address difficult issues and saying what needs to be said.
  • Cultivates innovation by creating new and better ways for the project to be successful and tapping resources.
  • Uses resourcefulness by securing and deploying project resources effectively and efficiently.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Coordinates daily observation of contractor activities and reviews Inspectors Daily Reports.
  • Reviews verification of materials and tracks quantities.
  • Prepares and negotiates Work Change Directives and Change Orders.
  • Reviews and approves monthly contractor progress payments.
  • Monitors contractor progress compared with progress schedule and budget.
  • Leads project meetings.
  • Works with contractor and client to resolve conflicts in the field.
  • Draft responses to Contractor's correspondence as required.
  • Monitors activities of assigned staff for conformance with contractual requirements.
  • Provides technical leadership for complex or unique assignments.
  • Provides guidance, training, and mentorship to inspection staff.
  • Performs constructability and schedule reviews.
  • Manages contract close-out.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local agency construction administration policies.
  • Fosters a safety culture on the project site.
  • Performs office management engineer work when needed including but not limited to: prepares documentation for change orders, reviews change order scope of work, schedule and cost, processes and maintains tracking logs for RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables. Assists in constructability reviews.
  • Inspects, monitors, and oversees construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications. Reads, interprets, and confirms compliance with applicable contract documents.
  • Performs or oversees on-site material testing. Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities). Responsible for the tracking of item quantities and preparing pay estimates and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
  • Initiates field changes to drawings and specifications and identifies discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
  • Reviews contractors daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency.
  • Responsible for maintaining as-constructed drawings and monitors contractors progress to analyze against progress schedule.
  • Consults on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions, assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.
