Kramers is an independent bookstore located in the heart of Dupont Circle. For more than 45 years Kramers has provided residents from DC and further afield with a spectacularly curated book selection and a book-related events program.
This environment is fun, fast-paced, engaging and challenging all at the same time. You must be able to communicate well, dynamically interact with our customers, adapt to the ever-changing world of books, and work independently, yet in unison with your Kramers team.
As a Floor Manager you will be expected to perform the following tasks:
- Provide outstanding customer service.
- Perform section detail and inventory management.
- Extensive shelving and restocking.
- Inventory receiving (requires the ability to carry 35-pound boxes).
- Manage and delegate booksellers during your shifts.
- Open and close the store (this will be a key-holding position).
Candidates should have prior retail experience. Prior bookstore experience is a plus but not required. Ideally the candidate will have held previous supervisory roles. Candidates should also be comfortable engaging customers in conversations about books, have a thirst for knowledge, be detail oriented, and be motivated to work with the book store team to achieve challenging sales goals. It's especially helpful if you are a bit of an expert in a particular genre.
We are open Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM. We hire for this position based upon your knowledge, experience, and availability. This job is a 32 to 40-hour a week position.
