Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Archaeologist/Field Director to oversee fieldwork operations, mentor junior personnel, and contribute to technical report writing. This role involves extensive travel and fieldwork (40–75% of the time), making it an excellent opportunity for professionals passionate about archaeology and cultural resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct and supervise fieldwork, including surveys, testing, data recovery, and monitoring.
· Oversee project tasks such as archival research, data collection, and technical report writing.
· Provide mentorship and training to field and laboratory personnel.
· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
· Maintain detailed field notes and documentation.
· Collaborate with clients and project teams to ensure the successful completion of archaeological investigations.
· Assist in preparing proposals and project budgets as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Master’s degree (MA) in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or a related field.
· Prior archaeological field experience with a professional cultural resource management firm.
· Strong artifact identification skills, with expertise in both Prehistoric and Historic material.
· Advanced knowledge in one or more specialty scientific areas (e.g., lithic, ceramic, or faunal analysis, historical archaeology, geoarchaeology).
· Willingness to travel and work in field conditions, including overnight stays.
· Experience managing crews and overseeing multiple projects.
· Valid U.S. driver’s license.
· U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of work.
