Job Summary:_ Located in Central Kansas Loads out of Rush Center & Liberal KS_
Pilot Car Driver/Flagger lead the drivers of oversize loads throughout their route. The Pilot Car Driver/Flagger has a duty to keep the public and other drivers safe while helping deliver the load safely.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties / Responsibilities:
· Verify the hauler received a permit prior to starting or continuing route
· Verify the permit includes the load size, hauling company’s name and escort information
· Always keep a copy of the permit in the escort vehicle.
· Verify that they meet the escort qualifications for each state in which they escort.
· Check and follow the driving laws for each state they travel through.
· Complete a pre-trip inspection.
· Communicate with the load driver to determine the best route prior to departure.
· Use a flagpole to monitor/communicate under height conditions while on route.
· Always maintain communication with the oversize load driver with a two-way radio.
· Communicate with other escorts and oversize load drivers to warn of large load passing.
· Find a safe place for the load driver to pull over.
· Perform other duties as required by management
Required Skills / Abilities:
· Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
· Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions.
· Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
· Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
· Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.
· Maintain records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with regulations.
· Present bills and receipts and collect payments for goods delivered or loaded.
· Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
· Drive vehicles with capacities under three tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations, such as railroad stations, plants, residences, offices, or within industrial yards.
Education and Experience:
· Have a current Class C license.
· Have or be able to pass Flagger certifications.
· Ability to read and understand traffic signs, maps, and/or navigational systems

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 60 per week
