KBR (Kord Technologies, LLC) is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to support the Firefly High-Energy Laser (HEL) Program’s mission of developing cutting-edge Counter-UAS capabilities for the Warfighter. Successful candidates will have extensive background and direct experience with complex HEL systems, modeling and simulation, and test.

Roles And Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and integration of high energy laser systems.
- Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, including optical, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system requirements, design specifications, and test plans.
- Interface with clients and stakeholders to provide technical guidance and updates on project status.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to high energy lasers.
- Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals and providing technical expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design and development of laser systems.
- Extensive knowledge of laser physics, optical systems, and systems engineering principles.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
- Experience in defense-related laser applications.
- Familiarity with military standards and specifications.
- Proficiency in optical design software and simulation tools.
- Experience with thermal management and power systems for high energy lasers.
- Active security clearance.
