KBR was selected to support the US Space Force/Air Force Research Laboratory’s ASTRO (Advanced Space Technology Research and Optimization) contract to provide mission equipment operations, maintenance, and upgrades to the USSF’s AMOS site in Maui, Hawaii. The AMOS site plays a vital role in national security by monitoring man-made objects in space and continuously developing next-generation capabilities to keep pace with the expanding space domain. Position Overview
KBR seeks a motivated and talented person to join our team as a Logistics/Procurement Specialist. ASTRO supports 24/7/365 operations and requires a high state of mission readiness of COTS and custom equipment. This Logistics Specialist aids in procuring equipment to support all aspects of operations, including spares, repairs, TMDE, and major upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
This Logistics Specialist oversees the requisition of goods and services for the contract. They receive purchase requisitions and requirements from staff and contact possible vendors to receive price quotations and choose the most cost-efficient option that meets requirements. Responsible for the receipt of goods from the suppliers. Checks deliveries and ensures orders are complete, in good condition and entered inventory/maintenance tracking/management systems.
$56,000-$110,000
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
Work Environment:
KBR supports work from home when compatible with meeting contract requirements. AMOS is a dynamic work environment, and this contract supports routine operations of and maintenance of mission equipment, as well as the need to respond to real-world events. To the extent possible, schedules are forecasted in advance, but upgrades, maintenance or significant tests require personnel to be present in the telescope facilities on Haleakala or Government’s Kihei office. Candidate must have effective verbal and written communication skills; must be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences or facilitate group discussions; develop accurate written materials to communicate information clearly and concisely.

- Takes requirements from technical and engineering staff and research vendors, gathers quotes, issues and monitors purchase orders to completion.
- Prepares/execute purchase orders based on approved requisitions, requests for quotation, and other similar and necessary documents related to the purchasing of supplies, equipment, services, and materials.
- Perform a variety of duties required to support purchasing activities.
- Manages the end-to-end supply chain relationship with vendors to ensure the best possible reliability, quality, cost, delivery, and overall supplier reliability.
- Works with technical subject matter experts to research vendors and develop new and alternative sources of supply where vendors and preferred suppliers are inadequate.
- Continually monitor, evaluate, and reports on the performance of both current and prospective vendors.
- Reviews requirements to ensure component deliveries are scheduled in line with mission requirements, reviews and issues purchase orders and makes necessary changes to requirements, schedule, and price.
- Ensures that critical purchase orders are communicated to the vendors and are effectively expedited to maintain smooth production operations.
- Assists in building and coordinating effective supplier management processes and strong supplier relationships and partnerships.
- Seeks and partners with reliable vendors and suppliers.
- Determines quantity and timing of deliveries.
- Monitors all open purchase orders to ensure vendors deliver on time.
- Responsible for Tool Control and enforcing FOD program on mission equipment.
- Responsible for TMDE on mission equipment, as required.
- [Sr] Acts as a mentor or advisory resource for colleagues with less experience; may run small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
- [Sr] May have supervisory responsibilities.
- Ability to support a variety of logistics functions for a site with complex custom and COTS mission equipment, and high mission readiness requirements.
- Experience maintaining/tracking large inventories (5,000 ) at an industrial, test or Government site.
- 2 years experience procuring custom technical equipment and services.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the procurement of specialized goods and services for a remote area.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate the sourcing process effectively with staff and management.
- Knowledge of Government inventory management approaches/requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills are required
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Positive disposition with a desire to assist others to achieve common goals
- [Sr] In-depth knowledge of DoD, Agency, and/or industry standards and engineering requirements.
- Clearance: eligibility for Secret required
- [Jr] BA/BS Degree in a business, finance or government field. In lieu of formal education, at least 8 years of progressive experience in a related field. 4 years of specialize military experience in the related field can be substituted for a BA/BS degree.
- [Mid] BA/BS Degree in a business, finance or government field and 2 years experience. In lieu of formal education, at least 10 years of progressive experience in a related field. 4 years of specialize military experience in the related field can be substituted for a BA/BS degree.
- [Sr] BA/BS Degree in a business, finance or government field required and 4-7 years experience.
- Experience maintaining/tracking large inventories (10,000 ).
- 2 years experience working with technical staff to procure highly specialized electrical, mechanical or optical equipment.
- 2 years experience with Government inventory management tools and processes.
- Experienced with FOD control processes.
- Clearance: Active Secret desired
