Position Summary:

This candidate will gain experience with Machine Learning, Data Science, Data Engineering in a team setting using python/R/SQL focused languages. This position is strongly data and analytics focused, and the candidate will gain experience on our team supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) on one or more exciting projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate with team using data science and statistical techniques to identify data of interest, extract structured data from unstructured sources, and apply many other data wrangling patterns to make our corpus of data more useful.
• Apply techniques from natural language processing (NLP) to understand textual data, including named entity recognition, topic modeling, and sentiment analysis.
• Use neural networks and other machine learning (ML) techniques to find patterns in data and to predict likely outcomes using a variety of input data types and sources.

Qualifications:

Required:

• You must be a college student in good standing, enrolled in a 4-year university
• Pursing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, or equivalent program
• You must have a minimum college GPA requirement of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
• Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required to be considered for this position
• Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the willingness to learn and contribute to individual and group projects
• Strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficient in one or more programming languages for data manipulation and analysis, such as Python, R, SQL, C/C#/C , etc.

Desired:

• Experience retrieving and analyzing datasets from databases and other systems
• Previous data science, computer science or similar work/internship experience
• Experience with various data visualization tools such as Tableau, Qlikview, MS Power BI, Plotly, or Matplotlib
• Experience with “big data” tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Databricks, or Palantir Foundry
