Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer
KBR is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the Dragonfly mission for KBR's Science and Space Division.
The Dragonfly Lander is a car-sized, nuclear-powered octocopter that will study Titan's ocean world and collect scientific findings.
Titan is a cryogenic environment, requiring expert thermal insulation and thermal testing development.
We're looking for help with two tasks: foam and the DTM (Development Test Module).
The work will be performed onsite at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD.
Responsibilities:
- Spacecraft mechanical design, including primary structure and component layout
- Producing CAD models and drawings for all hardware
- CAD modeling in Creo Parametric 10, with Windchill for PLM
- Making GD&T decisions
- Collaborating with engineering leads and manufacturers
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering Degree
- Minimum 15 years experience; 20 years preferred
- Experience and strength in Creo Parametric
- Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 GD&T specification
- Ability to learn Top-Down Design (TDD) methods
Compensation:
$195,300 - $293,000 per year, based on contract affordability and location.
