Position Summary:
Experienced Construction Laborer/ Groundhand will provide any support necessary in the construction projects; handling cable, conduit, tools and heavy materials, digging holes, and performing other similar work.
Our ideal candidates will have good mechanical aptitude, understanding of work practices related to utility construction and all the hazards related to this type of work.
Responsibilities:
- Perform manual labor such as shovel/ broom work, hand digging, trenching, pulling and removing material, job site clean-up and various tasks associated with utility construction.
- Assist crew members in the placement of cable/ conduit.
- Operate hand and power tools and other general tasks using company and/or rental equipment.
- Load and unload trucks/ dumpster and haul and hoist materials.
- Must have the ability to work safely, without constant supervision.
- Traffic controller/ Flagger
- Lead and assist other laborers with lesser experience.
- Participate in daily job briefing and safety meetings and ability to follow instructions and perform assigned duties in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Must have a valid driver’s license (class E preferred), reliable transportation, be dependable and punctual
- Must be able to lift, reach, dig and carry heavy objects with frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and infrequent lifting of up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Travel is required.
- Must be reliable, able to show up on time!
- Due to the nature of field work, this position may require overtime, working on weekends, holidays, and the possibility of being called in during off hours
- We are an outside plant construction company, it is mandatory to work outside in the varying elements year round
- Completion of pre-employment background checks, drug screen and motor vehicle record checks are required if driving for the company
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
If an OSHA 10 certification has not been acquired, this course will be assigned.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
