This internship program provides an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain hands-on experience in the sports industry. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, contribute to impactful projects, and gain valuable skills to build a successful career. This internship is a part time, season long commitment which includes working match days and non-match days.
Who are we hiring?
The Kansas City Current are seeking a Content Intern who is a skilled communicator who can write social media copy, is experienced in social media publishing, and can support in the ideation and execution of an engagement-driving social media and content calendar. The Content Intern will support the Manager, Content and the Executive Director, Content and Creative in the success and growth of the KC Current across various digital platforms.
What will you do?
- Assist Manager, Content on KC Current, CPKC Stadium, and other Long Sports & Entertainment social media accounts, including Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky, Threads, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn
- Collaborate to develop content for social media publishing, to support the achievement of key metrics and goals
- Contribution to ideation and concepting for social media posts related to the club, its team and players, partners and various business units including but not limited to ticketing, retail, and community relations
- Assist in maintenance and organization of KC Current’s content library of photos, videos and graphics
- Create content consistent with the brand voice that aligns with organizational goals
- Assist in keeping the social calendar up to date, creating copy for content and coordinating asset development needed to execute posts on the calendar
- Coordinate with internal departments to create and publish PR and marketing content
- Coordinate with ticket, retail and community relations teams for content capture and social posts supporting their efforts
- Other duties as assigned
What do you need to succeed?
- Prior internship experience related to social media management
- Some college or bachelor’s degree completion
- Positive attitude
- Motivated, ambitious, hard-working, proactive, takes initiative, etc.
- Soccer knowledge or interest a plus
- An ability to contribute 29 hours a week through November 2025
Special requirements of the Job:
- The ability to work nights and weekends for KC Current events, home and away matches
- The ability to drive to and from KC Current events and matches across Kansas City
