Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Commercial, we are seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial and revenue-minded Director, Event Sales responsible for business development and client management to drive non-match day event sales at both CPKC Stadium and The University of Kansas Health System Training Center. This position will work in conjunction with the ticketing and corporate partnerships departments to create and sell new business opportunities for the KC Current.
The Director, Event Sales contributes to the strategic planning and execution of department goals and initiatives. This includes developing new business opportunities to make CPKC Stadium and The University of Kansas Health System Training Center a destination for all non-KC Current special events.

What will you do?
- Lead a sales team that markets and sells 100 - 200 non-game day events that utilize CPKC Stadium and The University of Kansas Health System Training Center for meetings, receptions, and other functions
- Implement a marketing and sales strategy to attract events and other revenue generating activities to both venues
- Identify and develop large-scale opportunities for use of space at both venues
- Market both venues to Kansas City corporate and convention event planners which includes, but is not limited to: marketing and advertising plan development, research, developing marketing content and presentations, and relationship creation and maintenance
- Develop proposals to win business and manage negotiation from of non-match day event contracts from start to finish for the purpose of maximizing revenues
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the local events industry, including convention and visitors’ bureau, destination management companies, other venues, and vendors
- Establish competitive rates and pricing packages for space and services provided at both venues and ensure event P&L statements are maintained accurately
- Assign leads and track sales opportunities in CRM
- Assist in development of department revenue and expense budgets through research, tracking expenses, analyzing trends, and drafting projections
- Network and attend industry events and conferences to source business
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent military experience) in Business, Marketing, or Hospitality a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years of related business experience
- Minimum of 5 years sales management experience.
- Hospitality and Corporate/B2B sales background preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate
- Ability to function in a high-paced environment
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays
- Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time sensitive matters with senior executives. Travel may be required - 10 %
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at time
