WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
We are currently seeking to hire a Natural Resource Field Lead to lead natural resource field surveys and fill office task lead and reporting duties as needed. The position is full-time with a preference to be based in Sheridan, Wyoming, however other locations may be negotiable. Willingness to travel and work remotely, often working solo, is required.
Projects and duties include:
- Lead field surveys, following established survey protocols for wildlife, vegetation, and wetlands, along with conducting environmental inspections and reclamation monitoring.
- Use Geospatial Positioning Units (GPS), digital data forms, and hard copy data forms to collect data.
- Lead field crews, under the supervision of task leads or project managers, in the performance of field work.
- Data entry, quality assurance/control, analysis, and summarization to meet protocol and regulatory requirements.
- Assist project manager in planning and task oversight of field surveys, as needed.
- Assist project managers and task leads with data interpretation and reporting.
WHAT YOULL NEED
Applicants must have:
- Minimum of a bachelors degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or applicable field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in natural resource field work, with preferred 2 years of field lead duties.
- Preferred experience working in the Northern Great Plains, Rocky Mountains, and Intermountain West, including identification of fauna, flora, ecological assemblages, wetlands, and soils.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Familiarity with Word, Excel, and Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).
- Ability to travel and work remotely, often solo, in inclement weather conditions.
- A positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team.
- A valid drivers license and clean driving record.
- Have experience driving 4x4 pickup trucks, ATVs, and UTVs
- A commitment to High Standards in Safety
- Ability to participate in pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
