Position Title: Middle School Assistant Principal
About KCIA:
Kansas City International Academy (KCIA) is a kindergarten through 8th grade charter school located in the Kansas City Missouri School District. About the Position:
The role of the middle school assistant principal is to lead and support teachers and other school staff to create the best possible learning environment for students. This includes using student achievement data and knowledge of educational best practices to strengthen instruction and school culture, giving all students the support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Observe and give regular feedback to general education and special education teachers, counselors, behavior interventionist, and elective teachers
- Partner with the principal to evaluate staff
- Plan and lead weekly instructional team meetings
- Participate in child support team meetings, student success team meetings, and IEP meetings
- Collaborate with the principal to plan and lead middle school leadership team meetings
- Collaborate with the principal to track student data and plan and facilitate data team meetings
- Share with the principal responsibility for administering the school’s discipline and attendance policies through accepted building procedures
- Collaborate with the principal to establish and monitor standards, procedures and routines for students, staff and school safety
Qualifications:
- Missouri administrative license/certificate required
- Excellent communication skills
- A proven track record of instructional leadership, including a deep understanding of learning standards and best practices for curriculum and instruction
- Experience leading data teams and conducting independent analysis of student achievement data and student work, with the ability to identify key trends and next steps for instruction
- A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience preferred
- Successful administrative/leadership experience preferred
- Experience supporting multilingual learners preferred
