Summary:
The Process Writer will work cross-functionally with teams from other departments to capture best practices and standard work, and then document them as formal policies, procedures, or work instructions.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Process Writer will work cross-functionally with teams from other departments to capture best practices and standard work, and then document them as formal policies, procedures, or work instructions.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Interact professionally with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to extract information for documentation.
- Originate written policies, procedures, and work instructions in compliance with the requirements of the Quality Management System.
- Review and edit draft documents originated by others in the organization.
- Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation.
- Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content.
- Manage updates and revisions to controlled documents.
- Validate processes being recorded to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Function as a member of the Quality team and assist with Quality projects as directed.
Required Skills:
- Ability to study unfamiliar technical concepts and processes to rapidly achieve a basic understanding in order to complete effective written procedures.
- Ability to explain complex topics, situations, and procedures and clearly communicate them to a diverse audience.
- Ability to create effective visuals to convey information pictorially and/or graphically.
- Ability to choose and apply the appropriate layout, typography, color, image, and / or multimedia for your document.
- Ability to conduct proofreading of other’s work, including but not limited to: spelling, grammar, punctuation, content, structure, style, and technical vocabulary.
- Ability to organize and structure your documentation logically and consistently, using headings, tables, lists, diagrams, or other elements.
- Interpersonal communication skills are critical, including listening, speaking, writing, and checking for comprehension within a diverse audience.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings is critical.
- Basic process mapping skills are a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to plan, organize, and execute projects independently.
- Strong sense of accountability for project deadlines and deliverables.
- Must be self-motivated and task-oriented, with a strong personal drive for success.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or higher education level preferred; Engineering or Engineering Technology coursework is a plus.
- 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 1 years of technical writing experience.
- Experience implementing lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
- Experience/certification with document control a plus.
Safety/Physical requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work on ladders or step stools
- Requires bending, stooping and standing.
- Must be able to stand/sitting from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day.
- Good visual and spatial perception.
- Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc.
