Responsibilities:
Drive innovation at KCC by researching, developing, and testing new technologies for our HVAC products and exploring new business opportunities. This role requires a creative problem-solver with a strong engineering foundation to evaluate, refine, and implement new ideas, designs, processes, controls, and components. Contribute to KCC's leadership in the HVAC industry by challenging norms, exploring uncharted territory, and bringing groundbreaking concepts to life, expanding our capabilities and market reach.
Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze novel and applicable technologies in the HVAC market.
- Develop processes for evaluating and implementing new ideas within the organization.
- Pursue innovative concepts that lead to patents and technological advancements.
- Create and deliver training materials on HVAC-related topics.
- Research and secure funding and grant opportunities from industry associations.
- Design, build, and conduct tests to validate new technologies and ideas.
- Collaborate with New Product Development (NPD) and Product Engineering (PE) teams.
- Engage with HVAC industry associations to influence code changes and technology adoption.
- Use your engineering foundation to conduct sound, engineering focused evaluations of technology and capture your technical evaluations in reports and presentations
- Ability to meet the safety/physical requirements of the job.
Qualifications/Skills:
Required:
- Strong technical aptitude.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent decision-making, organizational, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or 10 years of relevant HVAC experience.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for 6-8 hours per day.
Preferred:
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
- 5 years of relevant HVAC experience.
- Experience in project scheduling and management.
Desired:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
Safety/Physical requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work on ladders or step stools
- Requires bending, stooping and standing.
- Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day. (Overtime may extend time period.)
- Good visual and spatial perception.
- Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc.
