The EHS Intern will report to the EHS Director and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS systems.

The EHS Intern will report to the EHS Director and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS systems.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and enhance KCC environmental, health, and safety policies/procedures.
- Develop and track leading indicator data to spur risk reduction activity.
- Present training modules to small and large groups.
- Participate in site safety committees to drive shop floor safety presence.
- Learns from EHS Specialists how to facilitate root cause investigations for all reported incidents, no matter how minor, in unison with shop floor leadership.
- Learn to complete required equipment inspections and drive closure to findings.
- Complete site hazard analysis through the JSA program and make recommendations for engineering/administrative solutions.
- Complete on-site contractor safety orientation with pre-approved contractors
- Perform other tasks as directed by the EHS Director.

- In progress to completing a degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience in completing team projects to meet/exceed goals.
- Strong organizational & time management skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
Preferred:
Excellent personal computer skills and Microsoft products experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day.
- Ability to perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, lifting up-to 50 lbs.
- Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc.
