Duties, Responsibilities & Other
The Survey Design Technician 3 is responsible for creating precise and detailed survey and building models/drawings and designs using Revit, AutoCAD, Civil3D, and TopoDOT. This role emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and adherence to safe working practices while ensuring compliance with company policies and ISO standards. The Survey Design Technician 3 collaborates closely with project teams, manages project tasks within budget and scope, and contributes innovative solutions to meet both company and client needs. This role will support projects related to roadway, building models, and 2D/3D floor plan projects as well as processing 3d laser scanning data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and draft survey drawings or 3d models using Revit, AutoCAD, Civil3D, and TopoDOT, ensuring they meet the required standards for approval by federal, state, and local agencies.
- Register 3d laser scanning projects using Leica Cyclone or Register 360.
- Work with a team of drafters and designers under the supervision of surveyors to support the practice.
- Review and interpret design manuals, technical documents, and local jurisdiction details.
- Size and specify design requirements accurately.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, ensuring projects meet ISO compliance requirements.
- Strive to achieve or exceed the budgeted individual utilization target.
- Attend bi-weekly or more frequent meetings with project teams to discuss progress and address any issues.
- Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required.
- Demonstrate commitment to team performance and actively participate in meetings.
- Complete all assigned tasks on time, within budget, and in accordance with the project scope.
- Compare field data to base plans to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Design and draft construction drawings and models using standard engineering principles for approval by federal, state, and local agencies.
- Collect necessary data, including measurements, sketches, notes, and photographs, to support project needs.
- Read and interpret technical documents, design manuals, and local jurisdiction details to effectively perform job duties.
- Size and specify design requirements, ensuring all design aspects meet project and regulatory standards.
- Complete other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Skills Required:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD.
Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:
- Understanding of drafting fundamentals is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite; Photoshop and Google Earth are a plus.
Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:
- Valid Driver’s License
