Duties, Responsibilities & Other

Minimum of 5 - 9 years of experience in the planning and design of water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure. Experience shall include the hydraulic and mechanical designs for water and wastewater pumping stations, storage facilities, and treatment plants. Shall be knowledgeable of piping, valving & pumping design for water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Capable of coordinating designs with various disciplines to include electrical, survey, civil, structural, architectural and environmental. Current with regulatory requirements and permitting related to water and wastewater systems. Experience needed with preparing contract documents to include contract drawings and specifications.

  • One or more of the following as it relates to water/wastewater engineering: 1. In a supervisory capacity plans, develops, coordinates, and directs a large and important project or a number of small projects with complex features.  A substantial portion of the work supervised  is comparable to that decrypted for a Sr. Design Engineer.  2. As individual researcher or worker, carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or imported techniques and procedures. Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined equipment, materials, processes, products and or scientific methods 3. As a staff specialist, develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.  Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products or equipment.  Usually performs as a staff adviser and consultant as to a technical specialty.
  • EI Required. PE preferred, not required. 
  • Candidate must have worked on all phases of design related to water & wastewater infrastructure and have been involved in industry related services of a project.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Appropriate graduate level work is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 - 9 years of professional experience.   
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Performance Expectations

  • Submit for approval and deliver timely annual Employee Performance Appraisals for assigned staff
  • Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence
  • Comply with all KCI policies and procedures
  • Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
  • Manage work routine of all assigned staff and assign job activities as required
  • Complete other duties as required/assigned
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(75%-80% typical)
  • Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks
  • Chart and provide task performance results
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
  • Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required
  • Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
  • Prepare interpractice agreements and/or outside requests as required
  • Provide technical project and staff oversight
  • Serve as task manager on select projects
  • Compare field data to base plan
  • Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for review and approval
  • Prepare preliminary concept designs and submit for approval
  • Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job
  • Review and approve shop drawings
  • Complete Annual Individual Training Program
