Duties, Responsibilities & Other
The intern will work under the supervision of a technical manager within our Transportation Construction Inspection group. Interns will work a 40-hour week, with at least 10 weeks of work required. Interns will be assigned a dedicated supervisor and mentor, are required to attend planned activities, and must submit mid-summer and end-of-summer reports / presentations.
- As an intern, you will work closely with experienced field inspectors, providing support for inspection and documentation of the contractor's work on construction projects across different regions of the state
- Your responsibilities will include conducting field measurements, collecting necessary data for daily progress reports, and performing quantity calculations to generate progress payment estimates
- Assist in Inspection progress of basic construction operations (Earthwork, Pavement) - Mid May - Late August
- Collection of field data (using simple survey techniques, GPS, and other tools of the trade)
- Recognize unsafe construction procedures and site conditions
- Inspect erosion control and protection of environmental features
- Assist in inspection of basic work zone traffic control set ups
