About the position
The NOC Engineer 1 position is a role focused on supporting, monitoring, and managing core network infrastructure and services. The engineer will ensure high availability and optimal performance across various network segments, leveraging extensive experience in OSI layers 1-3 to troubleshoot and resolve network issues effectively.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert support for routine network monitoring and management across core, distribution, and customer-facing services.
- Perform in-depth troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to OSI layers 1-3.
- Address hardware, cabling, and connectivity issues at Layer 1 (Physical Layer).
- Handle switch operations, VLAN configurations, and Ethernet problems at Layer 2 (Data Link Layer).
- Troubleshoot routing protocols, IP addressing, and MPLS configurations at Layer 3 (Network Layer).
- Document incidents, detailed resolutions, and standard operating procedures to support team learning and consistency.
- Work collaboratively with senior engineers and escalate complex issues that require advanced expertise.
- Assist in maintaining and updating operational documentation and records.
- Participate in training initiatives and contribute to enhancing team knowledge of the technologies used in the network.
- Prioritize tasks effectively in a 24 / 7 network operations center environment to manage workload and ensure seamless service delivery.
