Always excellent, accessible, and often unexpected, we are a constant source of fuel for the imagination, education and good vibes. At least, that is what our members tell us.
As NPR’s flagship member station in Southern California for more than 30 years and a community service of Santa Monica College, KCRW is the next generation of public media.
How You’ll Make An Impact
The Development Events and Operations Coordinator is an essential support role on the Development team, helping KCRW efficiently engage and steward KCRW Champions—our most generous supporters—through one-of-a-kind events and unique experiences.
The Development Events and Operations Coordinator reports to the Director of Individual Giving and will support the Development team’s events efforts by planning and coordinating all event logistics; crafting invites, strategizing new ways to engage donors through these events, and attending these events in person. In addition, this role will oversee scheduling and logistics for Board of Director meetings.
While this is a logistics and operations position, the individual will enjoy a range of experiences and opportunities to expand critical skill sets by engaging with mid-level and major donors at events, being a critical partner to the rest of the Development team, and supporting the Board of Directors. The Coordinator will not be tasked with soliciting donations, but should understand how events and donor engagement are critical to the team’s ability to meet revenue goals
Here’s What You’ll Do :
Oversee all logistics for KCRW Champion (mid-level and major-donor) events, including scheduling across internal calendars, coordinating with KCRW staff, maintaining guest lists, pursuing food and beverage sponsors, writing and sending invitations, setting up, and communicating with and greeting guests in-person.
Coordinate logistics for KCRW Board of Directors, including scheduling meetings and preparing materials.
Write and send event invitations and other mass emails through HubSpot, and maintain email lists for this purpose.
Utilize our Salesforce database to record donor information as it relates to events (attendance, drop-off rates, etc), and regularly report this information out to the rest of the Development team and other staff members.
Strategize with the rest of the Development team on new event ideas and other ways to foster the KCRW Champion community through in-person gatherings.
Work closely with the Director of Individual Giving on the team’s expense budget and coordinate event expenses.
Here’s What You’ll Bring :
You are excited about continuing to grow the KCRW Champion program and foster a thriving community of supporters through in-person events.
You enjoy all phases of event planning, from the early ideation to the final execution, and everything in between.
You love developing relationships and meeting new people, including staff, external partners, donors, and Board members.
You have strong written and interpersonal skills
You are able to provide your own transportation to attend Champion events, including on weekends or evenings as necessary.
You possess a keen attention to prioritization, details, and deadlines.
You are comfortable with a data-driven approach; developing systems, recording donor information, and reporting out on it to teammates and stakeholders.
You anticipate needs, take initiative, and demonstrate flexibility.
You have exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.
You are a self-starter with the ability to work both independently or with specific direction.
You have experience contributing to a collaborative and team-focused environment.
You are professional and handle confidential materials discreetly.
You are curious and enthusiastic for KCRW and for Los Angeles’ influence on music, culture and news.
