Job Summary
The Humanities Department of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for a full-time Reading Instructor. The primary modality for instruction will be in-person. Other teaching modalities may be implemented as needed.
Job Duties:
Other duties include but are not limited to:
- Academic advising
- Course and curriculum development
- Internal and external community service
- Educational leadership and professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's in Reading and/or Adult Literacy, or a Master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in Reading/Adult Literacy instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in, and understanding of the importance of, working with students from diverse backgrounds required. Teaching experience at the college level preferred. This position requires the ability to work in a culturally diverse environment, which consist of frequent contact with a diverse constituency of students, faculty, staff, and the public. The preferred candidates should also have experience and sensitivity working with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to fostering an inclusive work and learning environment in which students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.
