Job Summary
Part-time Temporary staff Adult Education English Language Learner (ELL) Instructor for the BCTC Fayette County Adult Education program
Hours per week: 8.0 hours
- Days per week: Tuesday and Thursday
- Work hours: 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Contract date: November 16, 2024 – June 30, 2025 (continued employment will be available based on funding)
Job Duties
- Plans and provides ELL instruction for eligible adults in a variety of settings.
- Administers and/or interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic assessments for adult ELL students.
- Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies.
- Assesses and monitors learning.
- Provides classroom management.
- Maintains lesson plans and syllabi for each course taught.
- Participates in required professional development by Kentucky Adult Education.
- Maintains student records.
- Participates in retention and follow-up activities.
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a content-related field.
- Score of NRS level 6 in Language on the TABE A 11/12 assessment (Provided by BCTC after employment).
- Prefer prior ELL experience.
- Experience managing large classes with groups of mixed nationalities is preferred.
- Experience with the contextualization and use of authentic materials to aid in achieving higher proficiency rating in speaking, listening, reading, and writing is desired. Emphasis on daily life skills with additional focus on vocabulary acquisition and developing confidence in speaking is preferred.
