About the Role:
Kitsap Credit Union is searching for a Director of Software Engineering to be responsible for providing direction and leadership to the software engineering and Salesforce teams. The position will plan, coordinate, direct, and roadmap activities for the credit union’s web technologies and Salesforce implementations, with particular focus on both meaningful outcomes and simplification to support the company’s business objectives. The Director will work closely with other departments to identify and recommend features for the web and Salesforce roadmaps, and then direct the team to develop, implement, and support the features that provide the organization with the most value. The ideal candidate will possess a strong hands-on development background, exceptional coaching and mentoring skills, and a proven track record of driving innovation and efficiency. Technical product management experience is a plus.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead and manage the software engineering and Salesforce teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
- Oversee the complete software development lifecycle of software applications and systems, including Salesforce.
- Collaborate with other departments to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Streamline intake of new projects and ensure workloads are evenly distributed and appropriate.
- Ensure that software projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Prepare and present information on the status of software projects to stakeholders and management
- Develop and implement software engineering best practices, standards, and processes.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of software applications and systems, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Conduct research to evaluate and recommend products for purchase and implementation.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure that the company remains competitive.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with software development tools and technologies, including C#, .NET, HTML, XML, CSS, JQuery, JavaScript, and Microsoft Azure Cloud Services.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL database programming.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Vendor management experience.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Demonstrates a high level of engagement and active collaboration contributing to a positive team environment.
- Understand, model, and represent KCU’s core values.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Hands-on experience with full-stack development.
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is a plus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, Agile development environment.
- Experience with Salesforce products a strong plus.
- Proven ability (including examples) of product road mapping.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and technologies.
SUPERVISORY STATUS
This position supervises others and is responsible for being results oriented, collaborative, delegating effectively, and embracing the organization’s core values, ensuring team effectiveness.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a minimum of 75% of the time.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machines.
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
- Constantly positions self in work environment.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with peers, supervisors, vendors, and employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions.
- Must be able to detect objects at a distance.
- On occasion will move up to 20 pounds of office objects.
- Works in an indoor office environment but expected to attend meetings in buildings that require travel in outdoor weather conditions.
