You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our production processes run smoothly by managing the procurement and planning of essential materials. Your expertise will help us maintain optimal inventory levels, secure the best deals with suppliers, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our operations.The Buyer Planner is responsible for managing the procurement and planning of materials and products necessary for company operations. This role involves negotiating with suppliers, coordinating with various departments to forecast needs, ensuring timely delivery of materials, and maintaining optimal inventory levels.
- Source and purchase raw materials, Lab chemicals and reagents, goods and services required by Production, Engineering, QA and QC.
- Select materials based on specifications; select vendor on basis of price, capability and past performance.
- Follow up on orders, delivery dates and expedite delivery of materials to meet target dates, prevent excessive inventory and avoid stock shortages.
- Monitor market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Gives support to other departments within Supply Chain to achieve common goals.
- Lead lean process improvement initiatives related to raw materials and overall improvements to the Purchasing Department.
- Maintain “just-in-time” level of inventory.
- Interfaces with Technical Services, Quality Control, Quality Assurance and vendors to resolve quality issues.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Resolution of claims with suppliers and carriers.
- Responsible for Raw Materials during the entire process, including QC release and any issue that arise during/after production cycle.
- Interact with sister companies to find global synergies.
- Resolution of claims with suppliers and carriers.
- Enter materials data information into computer data base, manage Technical and Regulatory documents for each material.
- Search and qualify alternate vendors to create competition and avoid back orders. Maintain List of Approved suppliers.
- Maintain accurate vendor files, including price histories and any problems in doing business with particular vendors.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, negotiation, and procurement.
- Strong understanding of materials management, MRP, and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of supply chain management, inventory control, and logistics.
- Experience with e-commerce, contracts, and production planning.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
