Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist
Define and coordinate the preparation of Health, Safety & Environment and Sustainability management systems for the site with the aim of ensuring the conformity with local, state, and federal regulations while implementing systematic processes for the continuous improvement of the plant. This is to be achieved through periodic reviews, updating and developing, as necessary, the related policies while conducting risk assessments to detect potential hazards focusing on injury prevention.
Responsibilities:
Develop EHS standards, policies, and procedures to implement and lead EHS programs across all departments.
Provide environmental health and safety technical expertise on manufacturing and operational systems and operating procedures.
Evaluate operations for continuous process improvement and implementation of preventative action measures (CAPA).
Assess and identify the workplace for the presence of environmental, health, and safety concerns and make recommendations to eliminate or control recognized hazards.
Support the development and maintenance of the sites EHS Management System and its relevant certifications. Lend support during EHS and Sustainability audits.
Monitor and evaluate EHS KPI’s. (Accidents, near miss, fulfillments planned by risk assessment, etc.).
Experience:
At least 5 years EHS experience
At least 5 years manufacturing experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational, Health & Safety preferred
Experience in a manufacturing setting
Ergonomic experience preferred.
OSHA 511 preferred
Specific Knowledge:
Strong problem solving / evaluation skills
Ability to coach and motivate employees
Excellent written and verbal communicating skills
Training development and presenter skills
Excellent public speaking skills
Self-motivated, energetic, and ambitious communicator
Able to meet deadlines and work independently without direct supervision
Provide EHS leadership in a dynamic environment
General knowledge of OSHA 29 and 40 CFR.
Industrial Hygiene monitoring practices
