Director Oracle Database Engineering

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Director Oracle Database Engineering team is responsible for managing my client’s public and private cloud databases and overseeing the design, build, and operational aspects of the database.

The Director Oracle Database Engineering is responsible for leading the database team and will drive the strategy, design, implementation, and operations of database solutions. You and your team will engage with the infrastructure and application development teams, support the adoption of cloud database solutions, and provide a clear path to migrate from the private cloud to the public cloud.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead engineering and support teams that will support my client’s modernization efforts.
• Collaborate and align with the modernization plans of the platform and application development teams.
• Enhance and further mature the Oracle distributed database service, ensuring self-service capabilities that meet customer needs.
• Provide extensive support for audit and regulatory reviews related to the cloud database space.
• Lead and encourage automation initiatives for public and private cloud databases.
• Demonstrate strong people leadership to empower, engage, and motivate the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; Master’s degree or equivalent experience a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in database engineering, delivery, and support.
• Ability to work across teams to create partnerships that achieve organizational goals and foster an innovative culture.
• Proven ability to technically lead a cloud database technology team while providing transparency and insight for business teams.
• Strong understanding of Oracle technologies in both private and public cloud environments.
• Passion for building a strong team to support the organization’s modernization goals.
• Solid experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab.
• Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle management and the Agile methodology.
