Summary
The Kearney School District Facilities Department is responsible for our seven school facilities and property surrounding them. The maintenance grounds crew is responsible for snow removal, mowing, trimming, landscaping, setting up sports fields for events and keeping grounds clean and presentable to the public.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in maintenance and care of all grounds areas, including weed-eating, and landscaped areas
- Operate and maintain power-driven equipment (e.g. lawn mowers, defers, weed eaters, tractors, trimmers) for the purpose of maintaining school grounds.
- Preform heavy physical labor in miscellaneous work for the purpose of maintaining District grounds
- Be able to lift 50 pounds repetitively in the moving of commodities and other deliveries for the District
- Repair playground facilities, school grounds, and other outdoor structures for the purpose of ensuring safe, well-maintained school grounds
- Be flexible in work assignment and have a positive attitude
- Be able to operate snow removing equipment safely and be able to get to work during snowy roads to clear school district property
- Perform other tasks assigned

Qualifications
Education/Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Driver’s License
Skills and Abilities
An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:
- Assist in maintenance and care of all ground areas, including weed eating, and landscaped areas.
- Fingerprint/background clearance
- Experience using maintenance equipment, use of tractors, zero turn radius mowers
- Experience setting up sports fields used paint stripers
- Experience using a snow plow
Computation
An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of American money, weight, volume and distance

Conditions and Environment
While performing duties of this job the employee regularly works indoors and occasionally works outdoors. The employee will work near or with mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate but can occasionally be loud.

Pay: $19.75 - $29.51 per hour
