Key Responsibilities:
- Follows policies and procedures, demonstrating the ability to access online manuals and references.
- Transfers learned scientific knowledge into practical application by applying the nursing process.
- Completes nursing assessments and screenings upon patient encounter, interpreting assessment information to formulate nursing diagnoses.
- Maintains problem lists, medication lists, and allergies lists when indicated.
- Administers medications as ordered and completes re-assessments as necessary, completing patient care procedures correctly per policy.
- Delegates tasks based on others' scope of practice and competency, acting as a patient advocate.
- Documents accurately, including patient care in the Electronic Health Record.
- Provides patient and family education as needed, based on diagnosis or treatment plan.
- Able to use basic equipment for patient care, identifying and notifying appropriate departments about defective equipment.
- Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team, utilizing e-mail systems and SBAR for effective communication.
- Manages time effectively, organizing and prioritizing responsibilities, taking meal breaks without incurring overtime.
- Observes regulatory agency requirements, being aware of annual updates to the National Patient Safety Goals.
