Licensed Mental Health Therapists for CMH / Clinical Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences (Clinician Educator)

Keck School of Medicine of USC, Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences, Division of Student Counseling and Mental Health

The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. As an employee of USC, you will be a part of a world-class research university and a member of the "Trojan Family," which is comprised of the faculty, students and staff that make the university what it is.

The Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking several licensed mental health therapists (PhD/PsyD, LCSW, LMFT, LPCC) to serve USC students in Counseling and Mental Health.

Position Description

USC Counseling and Mental Health Services seeks experienced therapists to join a diverse and dynamic multidisciplinary team who are strongly committed to providing excellent multiculturally competent clinical treatment, training, and outreach services regarding mental health and wellness to USC students. We are seeking candidates who are reflective of our diverse student population and who have strong clinical skills, are familiar with the duties associated with a university counseling center, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, collegial, professional environment. We are specifically seeking a therapist to primarily serve at the Eric Cohen Student Health Center, which provides access to care for students on USC’s Health Sciences Campus, including graduate students in medicine, pharmacy, occupational therapy, and more.

CMH therapists provide evidence-based, trauma-informed, and multiculturally-affirming psychological interventions to USC students, including individual treatment, group therapy, routine and urgent intake, triage, case consultation, third party consultation, and after-hours coverage. They may supervise interns and practicum students; present didactic training in seminars for social work, marriage & family therapy, and psychology practicum interns on theories, interventions, or diagnoses; and provide psycho-educational workshops to USC faculty, staff, and students.

As part of our campus-wide strategic goal of promoting diversity and inclusion, we are seeking applicants to serve as embedded counselors within USC’s Cultural Centers and academic units. Embedded counselors will establish and maintain service presence within their respective academic unit or cultural center, assess and address stigma and barriers to seeking services, and collaborate with administration, faculty, and staff within the academic unit/cultural center to meet clinical and programmatic needs of students.

Description of Counseling and Mental Health Services (CMH)

The training also includes participating in and promoting self-reflection. Our students benefit from multidisciplinary collaboration and we adopt a bio-psycho-social approach in our work whenever appropriate.

We are committed to making the Center a work environment characterized by respect, mutual support, and team work, and the sharing of diverse opinions among our faculty. We value and honor the diversity of the students we serve as well as the diversity of our faculty and the unique contributions of each member. Faculty are committed to ongoing learning, self-awareness, and cultural competency.
