Lead, Manage, Accountability (LMA)
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Manage a small accounting staff focusing on delegating and elevating.
- Lead accounting-related meetings by supporting open communication and collaboration to build a team atmosphere, resolve conflicts early, and report findings on related projects.
- Be an ambassador between accounting and other departments.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting.
- Ensure all sales and use tax payments are made timely to avoid penalties.
- Complete ongoing research to ensure we stay within compliance.
- Compile WIP report monthly while working closely with Project Accountants on the status of jobs.
- Ensure all project costs are properly captured, allocated and reflected within the WIP report.
- Prepare the calculation to accurately recognize revenue for active projects.
- Conduct reviews with Project Managers and Leadership to make any necessary adjustments or review discrepancies promptly.
- Provide analysis to alert leadership of any trends or red flags in regard to cash flow or project completion.
- Take full ownership of the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities to meet close deadlines.
- Prepare routine and ad hoc monthly journal entries.
- Reconcile multiple general ledger accounts including prepaid, accrual and cash.
- Financial report review and meetings with department leaders.
- Maintain and update daily cash status logs to track and report the company's cash position
- Execute the overall cash strategy set by the Director of Finance
- Monitor cash flow and evaluate needs based on future expenditures.
- Reconcile multiple bank accounts weekly.
- Serve as daily contact with the bank and foster strong relationships with the treasury department.
- Manage company credit cards by monitoring spend, coding of transactions and timeliness of imports into accounting system by the team.
- Support Assistant Controller with year-end closings, audits, and other special duties.
- Capable of troubleshooting inquiries and issues.
- Strong desire to find innovative ideas using lean thinking to allow for process improvement.
- Gather relevant data from different systems, develop methodologies for analyzing data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
- 5-10 years of prior solid accounting experience, experience in the construction industry preferred.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel
- Proficient with Sage 300 CRE Software preferred.
- Experience working in a paperless office environment.
- Travel up to 3% or as needed, by air and ground for software conferences.
- Sedentary strength demands include exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.
- Continuously requires vision, fine dexterity, hearing, and twisting.
- Frequently requires standing, talking, sitting, and handling.
- Occasionally requires walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching.
- Rarely requires climbing.
