An entry-level Structural Engineer must be detail oriented, open to learning and have a structural design background. They must be working towards their SE or PE license. PROTECT PEOPLE
- Consider the safety of Keen Project Solutions construction personnel, the customer, operators, subcontractors, and the general public in project design, per, OSHA, MSHA, IBC, IFC, NFPA, or other applicable regulatory requirements for all scopes of work.
- Research and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, municipal codes, permits, and standards relying upon proper expertise and resources internally and externally.
- Perform job site observations and report deficiencies, non-conformance, safety issues, quality control issues, and opportunities for improvement to the Sr. Structural Engineer on an assigned project.
- Contribute to design efforts with all parties involved in the project, including Owners, outside engineers, architects, consultants, contractors, trade contractors, and Project Management staff.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate and contribute to internal and external engineering and design teams.
- Participate in Owner Design Coordination Meetings with open communication and collaboration with owners, designers, and trade partners to build a team atmosphere, resolve conflicts early, and drive progress. Utilize online collaboration tools and web meetings to coordinate/communicate and conduct business efficiently.
- Built positive relationships with internal and external project managers, project engineers, design partners, and customers when collaborating on projects.
- Assist with the structural design portion of projects, make design recommendations and decisions, and oversee the completion and quality of construction drawings, specifications, reports, and other project documentation under the direction of a Sr. Structural Engineer.
- Communicate effectively to ensure all team members and customers are well informed throughout the design process, including effective use of face-to-face meetings, web and phone conferences, collaborative software, design meetings, events, and other common channels of communication.
- Be organized and effectively manage individual's time and tasks.
- Other responsibilities may include but are not limited: assisting with scope development, site investigation, specification and technical writing, conceptual design, design/engineering management, development of engineering standards, and estimating.
- Work closely with internal and external project partners, engineers, and other professionals to develop project technical parameters and scope.
- Integrate new technology or environmentally friendly practices into existing processes.
- Consider safety, manufacturability, constructability, potential failures, customer usage, functionality, and efficiency during the design process.
- Assist with Analyzing problems through data analysis, field engineering, experimentation, and dialog with the cross-functional team, to create more robust designs, reduce callbacks for warranty service, and drive continuous improvement.
- Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural engineering, architectural engineering, or civil engineering with a Structural Engineering emphasis.
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
- Be willing to work towards their Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) License.
- Possess good oral and written communication skills, and comfortable presenting design solutions to Owners.
- Have completed courses on structural analysis, and structural steel design. Courses on structural reinforced concrete design or foundation design are a plus.
- Experience using Revit, 3D software (Navisworks/Recap), Risa structural engineering design software, and Microsoft Office software is beneficial.
- Travel up to 25% or as needed, by air and ground.
- Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking.
- Frequently requires standing, fine dexterity, sitting, and handling; typical of office work.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels.
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
- Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
- Must be able to work in cold/hot environments and on concrete floors.
- Occasionally requires walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching.
- Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking.
- Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
- Must be able to stand for extended durations.
