What are the responsibilities and job description for the Garage Door Technician position at Keene Overhead Door?
Job Purpose: Technicians are responsible for the service and installation of overhead doors, and motors. As interactions with customers are common, outstanding customer service skills and a positive attitude are required. Technicians mostly travel up to but not limited to a 60-mile radius from Keene, NH. Technicians must be comfortable working safely and efficiently with a variety of hand, power, and trade specific tools, have the ability to lift, carry, and hoist 80 pounds, as well as be comfortable working on ladders and lifts. Safety is paramount, and this position requires a person who is safety conscience and holds or can obtain, at minimum, an OSHA-10 card. Technician’s must also have the ability to on-site “problem solve” in situations where the work-order deviates from requirements needed to successfully complete the job. Technicians must also have a valid driver’s license, and have the ability to traverse jobsites as well as sit, stand, kneel, bend, reach, and climb for extended hours.
Primary Job Functions:
*Ensure vehicle is fueled and ready for operation prior to beginning of the workday. Regularly hand in fuel receipts.
*Ensure vehicle is restocked with appropriate material, parts, and tools daily.
*Notify Project Manager of any required equipment, tool or vehicle repairs needed.
*Install and/or service product as indicated on the work order in a safe and efficient workmanlike manner.
*Immediately communicate with the Project Manager any unplanned obstacles delaying job completion within budget.
*Safely operate boom, scissor, and forklift if required. Safely erect scaffolding if required.
*Clean job site of all oil / grease smears on product and trash before departing.
*Respond to any customer questions and concerns in a professional and pleasant manner.
*Record accurate, daily work order / installation activities for appropriate billing or any additional product needed.
*Ensure that the shop and warehouse space is clean and organized.
*Assisting in unloading vendor deliveries by truck.
*Attend and participate in all required team meetings, safety meetings and vendor training.
*Must be knowledgeable in the proper operation and installation of a variety of sectional, rolling, and gate systems.
*Must be competent in measuring, repairing, and replacing extension and torsion springs.
*Must be competent in setting and adjusting remotes, motor operators, and MyQ functionality.
*Must be competent in servicing rollers, brackets, hinges, cables, pulleys and horizontal and vertical track hangings.
*Must be able to identify and install various bottom, top, and jamb weatherseals.
*Must be competent in on-site measuring, cutting, and installation of any trim or blocking required.
*After EVERY installation or service, place company sticker on doors and operators.
*Ensure doors and gates are closed and locked when leaving.
Position Requirements:
*Must possess a valid driver’s license, have and maintain a clean driving record, and be insurable.
*Must have basic mechanical / carpentry aptitude and the agility to learn new trade specific skills.
*Must have the ability to obtain and maintain OSHA-10, and lift certifications.
*Must be comfortable working with hand and power tools, as well as the manual dexterity to use safely and efficiently.
*Must be able to lift, carry, and hoist 80 pounds, traverse job sites, and comfortable on ladders and lifts up to 30 feet.
*Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
*Must have a neat appearance and able to represent the company in a positive and professional manor.
*Must have basic measuring, arithmetic, verbal, and written communication skills.
*Must be comfortable and responsible working in both team and individual settings
*Must be able to work in all seasonal weather conditions and comfortable driving a van in inclement weather
*Must be able to work in occasional dusty, dirty and oily environments.

Technician I: $18 - $25 an hour
Technician II: $24-$34 an hour
Technician III: $34 an hour
