The Child Development Center at Keene State College invites applications for an Associate Teacher to provide support in the toddler and infant classrooms and will work in partnership with the center staff to achieve highest standards of quality for children, families and college students.
The Child Development Center (CDC), located on the Keene State College campus in Elliot Center, is a demonstration early childhood education site for Keene State College students, practicing professionals, and young children and their families. The Center strives to model best practices by offering nurturing environments where young children are encouraged to explore, to be creative, to cultivate positive relationships, to experience the joy of learning, and to develop a sense of community.
The CDC is a dynamic learning community dedicated to providing excellent practical experiences for students studying to enter the teaching profession, or a related profession, with young children. Undergraduate and graduate students are offered supervised experiences under the guidance of early childhood professionals, in the direct education and care of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Through collaboration, the CDC staff contributes to an educational environment that encourages professionalism, growth, and diversity. - Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, child development, or equivalent (Equivalence is defined as 60 college credits, with 30 college credits in Early Childhood Education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special education) and one year’s experience and/or supervised internships working with young children in a school/center.
- Ability to comply with NH Child Care Program Licensing associate teacher requirements, CPR and First Aid training, and background checks.
- Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this position, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with a minimum of 18 credits in Early Childhood Education and child development.
- Experience working with young children in a College/University laboratory center or with experience teaching in a Granite Steps for Quality center with Pyramid Model experience.
