Production Assistant
KeenLogic is seeking a Print Production Assistant to join our team on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will provide on-site print production services, including large format printing, photo printing, and finishing services. This position will alleviate the workload of current Production Assistant while meeting the requirements of Members, Committees, and support offices.
Candidate Specific Requirements
- Two years’ experience in a photo/print production environment.
- Print experience***
- Knowledge of optical and digital photographic imaging principles and procedures.
- General understanding of layout and document formatting and setup for printing.
- Artistic ability to determine artistic cropping, accurate density, color, contrast, saturation, and formatting of digital photographic images.
- Proficiency in operating computer hardware and software to produce high quality photographs and graphics for production.
- Must be able to operate digital imaging computers, printing, and finishing equipment.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat Pro DC, and InDesign. Understanding of Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud is desired.
- Ability to manage and maintain digital images on local area network and a digital asset management system (DAM).
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, supervisors, and co-workers.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with elected officials, senior staff, information systems professionals and non-technical users.
- Ability to perform variable data printing preferred.
- Ability to work additional hours as necessary.
- Must be able to secure and maintain Federal Government security clearances as deemed appropriate by senior management.
Description of Work
- Assists with daily production work, including receiving and reviewing specifications, estimating costs, and following projects through to completion.
- Prioritizes work assignments based on customer needs, workload, and machine capabilities.
- Perform quality control checks and adjustments to obtain a desired level of image quality. When needed, print proofs for sign-off.
- Enters customer information and closes out orders for the billing process.
- Makes suggestions regarding paper, binding, productivity, and color workflow options.
- Coordinates as needed with photography and design staff to determine customers’ needs, including providing sample images for approval through e-mail, posting to photo browser, and writing to various electronic and digital media; recommends appropriate products and solutions to customers.
- Performs light preventive maintenance on printers and works with vendor technicians to resolve complex issues. Provide reports on unresolved maintenance to senior staff and management.
- Assists in the development and implementation of workplace policies, standards, procedures, practices, and communication programs.
- Participates in the development and distribution of all related program documents and materials.
- Performs other official duties as assigned.
- Work is physically demanding, requiring extended periods of walking, standing, and lifting moderately heavy items (ranging from 10 lbs to 30 lbs). Work requires the ability to distinguish colors.
