IT Specialist SME (Network and Computer Systems Administrator)
Location: Lanham, MD
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline
Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience may also be considered
8 years of hands-on experience in network and systems administration, IT infrastructure engineering, cloud integration (AWS, Azure), and enterprise-level operations and maintenance support, including modernization initiatives and identity/access management solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
Secret or Top-Secret clearance
Job Duties:
The IT Specialist SME is expected to support the Middleware Services Branch (MSB) in technical, operational, and managerial tasks. Their role will include:
Technical Integration and Engineering Tasks:
a. Infrastructure modernization efforts, including cloud migrations (AWS, Azure), API management, database solutions (e.g., MongoDB).
b. Engineering and supporting Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions, including Identity Credential & Access Management Modernization (ICAMM).
c. Managing technical dependencies, integrations, and release management.Project Management and Program Integration:
a. Preparing project management artifacts (roadmaps, schedules, action items).
b. Facilitating meetings, workshops, and architecture design sessions.
c. Developing and managing deliverables, maintaining reporting templates and documentation.Operations and Maintenance (O&M):
a. Certificate renewals, troubleshooting server outages (P1-P4 incidents).
b. Security vulnerability mitigations (e.g., patches), POA&M activities.
c. Health checks and proactive monitoring post-OS and software patching.Knowledge Transfer and Documentation:
a. Facilitating knowledge transfer to government personnel or successor contractors.
b. Developing and maintaining comprehensive operational documentation, training materials, and transition plans
Required Skills:
Hands-on experience with network and systems administration in hybrid on-prem/cloud environments
Proficient in virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and middleware platforms
Hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure and migrations (AWS, Azure), including cloud networking and resource provisioning
Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing/switching) and diagnostic tools
Experience with API management and integration of database solutions such as MongoDB
Expertise in Identity and Access Management (IAM) and ICAMM modernization efforts
Demonstrated ability to manage technical dependencies, integrations, and release management in enterprise environments
Skilled in preparing and maintaining project management artifacts such as roadmaps, schedules, and action item trackers
Ability to facilitate architecture design sessions, meetings, and technical workshops with cross-functional teams
Strong experience in Operations & Maintenance (O&M) including certificate renewals, proactive health checks, and incident resolution (P1–P4)
Familiarity with security vulnerability remediation, patch management, and POA&M activities
Effective in producing and maintaining detailed technical documentation, training materials, and knowledge transfer plans
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly in government or enterprise IT environments
