SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for directing the maintenance staff, with a focus on accountability, reliability, efficiency and
Waste reduction, while maintaining a collaborative relationship with all other departments.
Maintains systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules; restoring, repairing,
Re-building, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts; supervising staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining industrial textile equipment (Spinning only).
Tasks include start-up and shut-down procedures, mechanical troubleshooting, fixing and maintaining textile equipment (Spinning).
Installs, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on industrial textile equipment, and any other equipment as requested along with some facility maintenance.
Troubleshoots mechanical issues.
Responds to daily maintenance requests (Spinning) in a timely fashion to minimize equipment downtime.
Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests and makes adjustments.
Reads blueprints, equipment books in order to troubleshoot breakdowns; Studies manufacturers’ manuals to determine correct operation of machinery
Maintains accurate and timely records of maintenance performed.
Follows written and verbal instructions and performs other tasks as directed by Production Manager/Operations Manager.
Always use proper tools, equipment & PPE for the task at hand.
Report any production or quality issues to management immediately.
Report any unsafe work practices or conditions to management immediately.
Perform all other job duties as assigned by the Production/Operations Manager.
SCOPE AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
This is supervisory position.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with fellow employees and vendors/contractors.
Ability to install, inspect, repair and maintain the electrical, plumbing and other related systems of all district health department locations.
Ability to perform various clean-up and maintenance tasks as needed.
Ability to update inventories and other supplies as needed.
Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions.
Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties.
Employee must be able to communicate with the supervisor.
Previous experience in maintenance experience required.
Must be able to read manuals.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:
High School or GED. Eighteen months of education and training beyond high school level in general maintenance and repair, or a closely related area.
Two-year experience in general maintenance or other maintenance responsibilities that would include the ability to recognize electrical, plumbing, and mechanical malfunctions or equipment failures. Formal training in related fields will substitute on a year-for year basis.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee must be able to:
a. Bend, Reach, Push, Pull, Stoop.
b. Stand for long periods of time
c. Walk long distances every day
d. Lift up to 25 to 50 pounds
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
a. Always wear hearing protection & safety glasses (where applicable).
b. Always wear safety glove when using utility knife.
c. Always wear dust mask (where applicable)
d. Always wear shoes that cover the entire foot, no open toes.
e. Always keep hair tied back.
f. Always observe good housekeeping by keeping cotton fibers or any foreign materials, debris off of the floor.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to tolerate indoor work, exposure to cotton dust and noise levels while working.
