What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Education Instructor position at Keewaydin Environmental Education Center?
The Keewaydin Environmental Education Center (KEEC) on Lake Dunmore in Salisbury VT is seeking environmental educators for its spring program. The dates are April 13th, through May 30th.
RESPONSIBILITIES: teach & work with small groups of students grades 5th-6th in 4-night, 5-day intensive, place-based, residential program focusing on natural communities and human interaction. Instructors lead field investigations & evening programs in natural science, local history, human impact, & land-use. Other responsibilities include meals in the dining hall & bi-weekly overnight supervision in cabins.
QUALIFICATIONS: motivation & enthusiasm for teaching children about the wonders of the natural world while role-modeling living in a caring and functional community, background in natural history, sciences, and environmental education desired. Staff must possess a valid driver’s license and be at least 21 years of age.
SALARY: $575/week plus room & board. While not in cabins with students, staff sleep in simplistic wood cabins close to the lake. Surrounding area is a beautiful mountainous playground.
