PRIMARY PURPOSE
- Responsible for providing accounting support to accounting supervisor and other personnel within the department and to assist the organization by providing efficient and effective financial process to further its mission and goals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Full cycle A/R and A/P functions, including ACH direct deposit for employee reimbursements, allocation of vendor invoices, acquiring W-9s as well as annual 1099s.
· Records bank, Paypal, ACH deposits, tuition payments; reconciles petty cash; assists in financial functions of fund-raising, GET quarterly payments.
· Prepares and reviews supporting schedules related to monthly and annual close process.
· Possess the ability to understand and perform within the organizational structure of culture-based education (CBE) and family engagement through knowledge of and implementation of Hawaiian culture and dual language opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Assists in payroll processing.
· Assists in month-end reconciliation: month end journal entries, re-class entries, fixed assets, and balance sheet reconciliations.
· Fulfills independent auditor requests as required during the audit fieldwork.
· Supports grant accounting compliance with OMB A-122, A-133, and A-110, and other compliance guidelines/governmental agency requirements.
· Various office administrative tasks as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
· 3 years related accounting / bookkeeping experience.
· Associate’s degree in bookkeeping or accounting is the minimum requirement.
· Must demonstrate a general understanding of accounting practice – GAAP, including accrual accounting.
· Experience with federal grant funded non-profit organization(s) a plus.
· Experience with electronic transfer of funds, including implementing procedures and documentation that ensure proper authorization, security and internal controls.
· Technically proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Excel and Word, 10-key.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
· Math skills and problem-solving skills required.
· Strong “can do” / “hiki no” work ethics
