SIX WEEK PRE-APPRENTICE MECHANIC POSITION!!

Are you passionate about Tractor Trailers and eager to kickstart your career in the transportation industry? We are looking for  motivated and enthusiastic Pre-Apprentice Mechanics to join our dynamic team! We offer you the opportunity to try out this field with no commitment, after 6-weeks you have the opportunity to apply for a fulltime position with us or with one of our affiliates looking for individuals for long-term positions.

Location: Weedsport NY
Position: M-F / 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Job purpose

The Direct Entry Pre-Apprentice Mechanic is introduced to learn basic understanding, repair, and maintenance of entry level tasks for vehicles and equipment over a six-week period. Successful candidates for this program can apply and interview for a position in the registered apprentice program and/or to open positions in the shop.

What You’ll Do:

• Classroom training on the industry and tasks to get you prepared to enter the shop
• Assist experienced mechanics with vehicle and trailer maintenance and repairs
• Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot issues
• Perform routine tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines

• Safety Sensitive position
• Applicable PPE required.
• Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and agree to agencies drug free workplace policies.

Safety in the Workplace

Your cooperation in making sure you receive the proper training for your job, understand and follow the company’s health and safety policies, as well as reporting any unsafe conditions is required.
• Direct Entry Apprentice Mechanics are considered a Safety Sensitive Position.
• Must follow all proper PPE requirements in the shop, safety glasses, face shields when required, steel or safety toe boots 6 inch to 10-inch, proper welding sleeves, and all other required items in designated areas.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently exposed to fumes/airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration
• Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions.
• Work environment can be loud.
• Position is highly active, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing entire shift.
• Must be able to lift/move at least 50lbs and maneuver 100lbs with tooling.
• Vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
• Housekeeping.
