Description : POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President of Residential Services is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and oversight of all residential programs and services provided to individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities. This executive role ensures that residential services meet OPWDD regulations, industry standards, and organizational goals, while promoting the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals served. The VP will lead a team of directors and managers, collaborate with other departments, and serve as a key representative for the organization in matters related to residential services.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Role responsibilities include but are not limited to the following :
- Provide executive leadership and vision for the organization’s residential services, ensuring alignment with the overall mission and vision of the agency.
- Develop and implement long-term strategies for the residential program that improves the quality of life for individuals served and enhances organizational effectiveness.
- Stay abreast of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in residential services for individuals with developmental disabilities and ensure the organization adapts to these shifts.
- Represent the organization in external meetings, conferences, and with key stakeholders regarding residential services.
- Oversee the daily operations of all residential programs, ensuring they meet OPWDD guidelines and regulations, as well as organizational standards for safety and quality.
- Direct the development, implementation, and evaluation of residential service models that are person-centered and responsive to the diverse needs of individuals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in service delivery, incorporating data-driven insights, feedback from individuals, families, and staff, and outcomes measurement.
- Ensure all programs are fully compliant with OPWDD regulations, local, state, and federal laws, and the organization’s internal policies.
- Manage the budget for residential services, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource allocation in line with the organization’s priorities and funding streams.
- Monitor the financial performance of residential services and recommend corrective actions when necessary to maintain financial health.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for funding, grants, and other resources to support residential services, ensuring that services are sustainable and effective.
- Lead and mentor a team of directors, managers, and other staff within the residential services division, ensuring effective recruitment, training, and development.
- Establish performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews for senior residential staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
- Promote staff engagement and morale through professional development programs, team-building efforts, and support for staff well-being.
- Ensure that all staff are adequately trained in OPWDD regulations, industry’s best practices, and agency-specific policies.
- Oversee the implementation of quality assurance and risk management systems, ensuring that all residential programs comply with OPWDD regulations and other relevant standards.
- Ensure that incident management and reporting systems are robust, and that any issues or concerns are addressed promptly.
- Collaborate with the compliance and other departments as necessary to address any regulatory or operational challenges and ensure swift corrective action when needed.
- Ensure that residential services are delivered in a person-centered, compassionate, and inclusive manner that respects the rights, preferences, and dignity of individuals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families, guardians, and external stakeholders, including local service providers, healthcare professionals, and regulatory bodies.
- Act as a spokesperson for the organization’s residential services, communicating successes, challenges, and strategic goals to stakeholders both internal and external.
- Develop and implement comprehensive crisis and emergency response plans for residential services to ensure the safety of individuals and staff.
- Lead efforts to manage complex or high-risk situations in residential settings, making quick decisions and providing support to staff as needed.
- Continuously evaluate and refine crisis management protocols to address emerging risks or challenges.
- Work collaboratively with other departments and programs within the organization, such as clinical services, community-based services, human resources, and administration, to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
- Support cross-departmental initiatives and contribute to the achievement of overall organizational goals.
- Stay informed about legislative, regulatory, and policy changes that impact residential services and advocate for necessary changes to improve services and funding for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Build relationships with local, state, and national policymakers, representing the organization in discussions related to residential care for individuals with disabilities.
- Adheres to agency policies and procedures; follows and supports agency mission, vision, and values.
