What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Project Manager position at Kelco Construction Inc?
Kelco Construction, Inc. has an immediate opening for an entry level to 5 years Project Engineer for Sitework and Landscape projects. The position is responsible for developing shop drawings, submittals and RFI’s; document Control; effectively communicating with members of the project team, vendors and subcontractors; and other activities related to project engineering. We prefer candidates with a bachelors in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Landscape Industries, or related field. Candidates without a University degree, but with adequate related project experience, will also be considered.
Projects include small to large site civil, mid-rise to high-rise outdoor terraces, foundations, small building, parks, athletic facilities, streetscapes and landscape.
Under the Supervision Of The Project Manager, Duties Include
- Perform take-offs and measurements on civil, architectural and landscape drawings.
- Develop RFI’s and coordinate between the client and the field crew.
- Prepare Submittals, submit to the Architect and Construction Manager, and track status is a submittal log. Distribute returned submittals to Kelco field team and necessary Subcontractors.
- Quality assurance through regular site inspections, ensuring correct materials are onsite per approved Submittals and that work is being performed per drawings, specifications and RFI’s.
- Perform cost management exercises including materials and labor data entry / tracking.
- Procore short term materials to the project and assist with long lead materials and Subcontractor buyouts.
- Reports to the Project Manager and works closely with field personnel including the Site Superintendent and Foremen. Manages day to day tasks of interns if applicable to the project.
- Organize and maintain drawings, sketches, and other project document changes.
- Prepare short term lookahead construction schedules and assist with development of the master schedule including material lead times. Ensure that quality inspections are booked per the lookahead schedule.
- Drafting shop drawings and details in AutoCad with the ability to solve drawing detail issues (preferred)
Requirements
- Entry Level to 5 years’ experience
- Organized and able to manage time and administrative compliance
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience managing multiple projects and ability to multi-task
- Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project)
- Proficient in AutoCad (preferred)
- Experience in Procore (preferred)
- Follows workplace and vehicle safety procedures consistently
