A leading public institution in Southern Nevada seeks a strategic and innovative Director of Information Technology to provide operational and administrative leadership for their technology function. This role reports directly to the Executive Director and serves as a key member of the senior leadership team. The ideal candidate will develop and implement technology strategies that advance the organization's mission, oversee infrastructure development and maintenance, and lead network management, technology hardware management, and cybersecurity initiatives. This position creates an environment that promotes high performance, collaboration, innovation, and excellent service delivery while fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible workplace.

LOCATION: Las Vegas, NV

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Strategic Technology Leadership:

  • Develop and execute long-term strategic and short-term operational technology goals
  • Lead organizational technology planning and implementation
  • Manage staffing and resources within budgetary guidelines
  • Direct and motivate IT staff to achieve established goals
  • Coordinate with other departments to meet organizational objectives
  • Develop and monitor key performance metrics
  • Manage annual IT budget and resource allocation


Team Leadership:

  • Provide administrative supervision to managers and staff
  • Deliver performance coaching and management
  • Support career development
  • Handle conflict resolution


Technical Operations Management:

  • Oversee IT operations, including personnel, compliance, and financial transactions
  • Manage hardware maintenance, network services, and contract administration
  • Lead project management initiatives
  • Identify funding opportunities
  • Prepare and present reports to leadership


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Define and communicate technology policies and standards
  • Lead organization-wide technical initiatives
  • Build community relationships and technology partnerships
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging technology trends


Requirements


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field
  • 8 years of professional IT experience
  • Minimum 5 years in an IT management role leading technology services and initiatives
  • Valid Nevada Driver's License (or ability to obtain)


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Library Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • 10 years of professional IT experience
  • 5 years experience as Director of Information Technology or equivalent role in a large multi-facility public or academic setting
