This full-time (166 days over each contract year) faculty position reports to the Dean, Health Sciences and will work Monday through Friday, day and evening hours, scheduled between 6:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. with the potential for occasional Saturdays. The schedule is determined by the Dean and based on program and college needs.
Position Summary
Kellogg Community College is recruiting for a highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills to assume the role of Instructor for Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Program. This person must possess a current unencumbered RN License in the State of Michigan and current State of Michigan Nurse Aide Training Program Permit. This full-time tenure-track position will report to the Dean, Health Sciences. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to ongoing maintenance of current and relevant curriculum design and delivery, engagement with administration in program planning and coordination, active participation to assure continued program accreditation standards, State approval requirements, and program effectiveness benchmarks are met.

Physical Demands
The job responsibilities are performed in an office area, classroom, clinical or laboratory area, and/or regional campus sites. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and climbing. Strength must be sufficient to assist with lifting and transferring patients of varied body weights and abilities and to lift or move material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward, potentially in excess of 50 pounds. Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and, may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited college or university OR bachelor's degree or higher in a health-related field with an associate degree in Nursing.
- Current unencumbered RN License in the State of Michigan.
- Minimum of two (2) years (full-time equivalency) of nursing experience as a registered nurse with at least one (1) year in the provision of long-term care facility services (federally-certified CMS facility, state-licensed long-term care facility) or related services to individuals that require non-hospital residential medical, nursing or rehabilitative services. Long term care facilities may include nursing homes, hospital long term care units, county medical care facilities, homes for the aged, assisted living facilities, hospice and other like provider types.
- Successful completion in course teaching adults or have experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse aides from various diverse populations.
- Current State of Michigan Nurse Aide Training Permit.
- Currently state-approved to teach the Nurse Aide Program at Kellogg Community College, or continued employment is contingent upon State of Michigan approval to teach at Kellogg Community College.
- Experience in teaching and working with adults from marginalized populations.
Preferred but not Required
- Experience teaching at a community college.
- Previous experience and/or knowledge in Nurse Aide Training Program State Curriculum.
Proposed Salary

Job Duties
Essential Function: INSTRUCTION
- Description:Teach established didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses offered in face-to-face methodology in both a Primary and Supplemental Instructor role as program needs.
- Travel to Albion, Battle Creek, Coldwater, and Hastings satellite locations, various clinical site facilities as well as to events both on and off campus.
- Teach high school students at Battle Creek Public Schools.
- Work between the hours ranging from 6:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., and on call as needed.
