Job Title: Mainframe Developer
Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid, 2-3 days onsite per week)

Duration: Long Term Contract.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer (zOS) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Assembler code and zOS development and be responsible for system analysis, development, and support of mainframe-based applications. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and IT teams.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with clients and IT personnel to analyze system requests and develop specifications for new system development projects or maintenance of existing applications.
• Adhere to System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards, including preparing project-related documents as required by the Project Manager.
• Make design modifications to programs independently or collaboratively with other developers.
• Prepare and execute unit and integration test plans for program changes, working closely with clients and IT personnel.
• Conduct thorough problem analysis related to technical systems and application programs, document findings, and propose resolution alternatives.
• Provide on-call support for production environments as needed.
• Act as a Project Lead for smaller or less complex projects.
• Mentor and guide junior programmer/analysts.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for complex technical queries.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 9 years of experience in system development and support for mainframe-based applications.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong experience in working with clients to develop system solutions that address business needs.
• Expertise in mainframe development tools, including but not limited to:
  • COBOL, Easytrieve, CICS, VSAM, VSE/DOS
  • Some Assembler knowledge is a plus.
• Proficiency in VSE tools such as:
  • SyncSort, IDCAMS, CECI, CEDF, FTP, or other third-party toolsets.
• Experience with client/server technologies is a plus.
• Familiarity with .TXT, .XLS file handling and SQL is an advantage but not required.
• Working knowledge of Waterfall and Agile methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience leading projects or mentoring junior developers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment.
