Kellwell Food Management, a leading correctional food service provider, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Service Manager to oversee food preparation at the Banks Homer County Jail in Homer, GA. This is a full-time position with weekly pay.
About the Role:
As the Food Service Manager, you will be responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen, supervising inmate workers in meal preparation, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. You will play a vital role in providing nutritious and well-prepared meals within a secure correctional environment.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct inmate workers in food preparation, ensuring efficient and safe kitchen operations.
- Ensure all recipes are followed precisely, including correct ingredients and quantities.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Conduct weekly inventory of food and supplies.
- Place orders for food and kitchen supplies, managing within budget constraints.
- Maintain accurate records of food production, inventory, and orders.
- Collaborate with jail staff to ensure smooth meal service and address any dietary needs or restrictions of inmates.
- Implement and enforce security protocols within the kitchen area.
- Train and coach inmate workers on proper food handling, preparation techniques, and safety procedures.
- Monitor kitchen equipment for proper functioning and report maintenance needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in food service management, preferably in a correctional or institutional setting.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe certification preferred).
- Ability to supervise and motivate inmate workers.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Basic computer skills (inventory management, ordering).
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Reliable transportation.
Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a drug test and thorough background check.
