Fiber Splicer

Splicer - Fiber is responsible for safely and timely splicing multiple projects on a timeline. It is important for Splicers to maintain all fiber optic facilities up to customer standards and take initiative in troubleshooting issues in the field. Upon completing a splice job, Splicers are responsible for reporting field notes, test results, and billing.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Competent in splicing of Hi-Cap circuits and T1’s
• Install and maintain pressurized closures; both Waffle and Preform
• Knowledge & proficiency in paper/pulp cable splicing and pair identification
• Complete accurate paperwork for material and customer billing tracking purposes
• Operate all vehicles, equipment and tools while adhering to company safety standards
• Complete daily inspections and reporting of maintenance issues on vehicles, trailers and equipment
• Works efficiently to achieve a high level of daily productivity in a fast-paced environment
• Understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
• Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team
• Willingness and ability to learn additional skills

Success Factors:

• Ability to read prints and familiar with RUS units and redlines
• Ability to work in underground (confined spaces), buried and aerial environments, sitting down or standing up in awkward positions for long periods of time
• Time management skills
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to travel within the state as required by business needs - approximately 20% of the time
• Must be able to successfully complete a driving record check, criminal background check and drug screen
• ES07J license if preferred and would need to be obtained within the first 120 days

Experience and Education:

• 3 years of experience splicing copper distribution cables (50 pair and larger)

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
• Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
