Kelly is hiring a QA Lab Tech for one of our clients in Rome, GA
- 3 month contract to cover a maternity leave (may have potential to convert to perm based on performance)
- 3rd shift rotating schedule 6pm-6am (2 on 2 off 3 on 2 off. 2 weekends off per month)
- Pay : $22.40 / hr
Position Purpose
To perform Quality and Food Safety tests, checks and audits as assigned to ensure the quality and food safety of all raw, in process and finished goods. To accurately complete and / or enter electronically all required safety, quality and manufacturing control documents and information.
Organization Relationships
This position reports to the Q.A. Team Leader, peers include all employees associated with manufacturing, quality and support operations.
Position Responsibilities & Duties
Q.A. Technicians will be open to rotation and / or shift changes / split shifts and may be called upon to perform duties outside of the Q. A. Technician responsibilities that proactively support company needs. Food Safety & Quality

Quality Assurance Technician Operations
Knows, understands and performs the following job functions within the established Safety, Quality and Production guidelines and / or SOP’s :
Knowledgeable of all receiving, in process, finished product controls, analysis and tests.
Performs calibrations and maintenance of lab instruments.
Knows and understands the operation of all lab testing equipment.
Capable of monitoring all processing lines and able to perform quality audit checks on all products and lines.
Audits in process, finished product, and traceability controls.
Maintains open communication with management, team members, and other departments to minimize out of specification conditions and foreign substance contamination.
Performs special audits to ensure plant adherence to customer, company and governmental requirements.
Collects, prepares, mails and follows up on, if necessary, various samples.
Identifies non-conformance product or materials.
Investigates non-conformance product or materials through trouble shooting, problem solving and determining a disposition.
Works closely with key personnel concerning observation, identification, notifications, documentation, isolation, audit and disposition of non-conformance product or materials.
Complies data and distributes finished product Certificates of Analysis to various departments.
Maintains and updates various quality assurance files.
Assists in development and implementation of on going quality assurance programs.
Conducts and assists in special projects or studies as required.
Maintains all testing supplies and chemicals.
Responsible for checking inbound raw materials and supplies.
Verification of quality, vendors, quantities, associated lot numbers, specifications, and certificate of analysis results of raw materials.
Sample each shipmen of incoming raw material and have knowledge of all required testing and methodologies
Constructs, distributes, and processes to completion holds, customer quality and various reports.
Trains technicians and other personnel as needed.
Conducts product evaluation training, evaluates product, maintains evaluation controls, and proactively participates in correction of discrepancies.
Assists in organization and rotation of retained samples.
Proactively participates in the advancement of the team
Manage aged inventory
Performs environmental air monitoring
Housekeeping
Maintains a clean and sanitary work area
Maintains clean and sanitary machinery & equipment
Communicates any sanitation issues to the Q.A. Team Leader
Maintains an inspection ready status at all times
Record Keeping
Accurately completes all required Food Safety and Quality Records.
Knows, understands and accurately enters all information into the TW data base
Knows, understands and accurately utilizes the production schedule
Knows, understands and accurately utilizes BPCS computer system
Working Conditions
This position requires the majority of time to be spent in the Quality Assurance lab area. Standing for long periods of time is required. Repetitive motion may be required in some areas of the operation. PPE is required depending on job task being performed, hearing protection is required at all times in designated areas.
Essential Skills
Related Experience : Previous Quality or Lab work in a food manufacturing facility is a plus.
Educational Level : Four year degree with some chemistry is preferred but not required. Two years of college with related work experience is acceptable.
Licenses / Certifications : None
Expertise Level : Good communication skills, computer skills, organizational skills math skills, attention to detail, analyzing, and troubleshooting are essential to this position.
Salary : $22
