Quality Assurance Supervisor

Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor for a direct-hire position at a cutting-edge client in Portland, OR. Overview

This client is an industry-leading company in the manufacturing sector, focused on maintaining high-quality standards in their processes while producing safe, reliable products.

As the Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will oversee laboratory personnel, microbiological analysis, and compliance within a manufacturing environment. This role includes ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), supervising laboratory activities, and supporting overall plant operations to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, supervise, and coordinate QA laboratory personnel and activities.
  • Oversee daily lab operations, ensuring good laboratory practices are implemented and sustained.
  • Direct and train QA lab technicians following regulatory guidelines.
  • Supervise chemical and physical analyses of product samples, ingredients, and controls.
  • Complete event reports for non-conforming results and support root cause investigations.
  • Manage instrument calibration and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Develop and maintain environmental monitoring programs, including indicator organism testing and third-party analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with lab and plant GMP and safety procedures.
  • Prepare and issue monthly quality reports to management, ensuring transparency and tracking key quality metrics.
  • Support customer complaint investigations and drive corrective action resolutions.
  • Participate in training for plant personnel and visitors concerning food safety, FSMA, and GMPs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Food Science, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a lab environment with demonstrated leadership experience; infant formula or food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of cGMP for food, laboratory practices, and regulatory standards such as 21 CFR part 210 & 211.
  • Strong skills in statistical evaluation, root cause analysis, and process improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and quality systems like QT9 or ERP systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (e.g., quality samples, files, supplies).
  • Job involves approximately 80% walking/standing and 20% desk work.
  • Ability to navigate stairs safely and stand for extended periods.
