Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a strong comprehension of raw materials used in cosmetic formulations and their respective functions.
- Understand the principles behind the formulation process, including the rationale behind specific ingredient combinations.
- Develop an emerging understanding of production capabilities within the cosmetics industry.
- Display the ability to create formulations from scratch with minimal supervision or guidance.
- Identify and utilize appropriate ingredients necessary for successful formulations, including preservatives, chelating agents, pH adjusters, etc.
- Monitor preliminary stability of formulations to ensure product integrity.
- Develop an emerging understanding of OTC regulations and stay informed about regulatory changes affecting cosmetic products.
- Establish proper specifications utilizing correct equipment for formulation processes.
- Gain familiarity with Product Efficacy Testing (PET) reports to ensure product effectiveness.
- BS in Chemistry or related field
- 1-3 years of experience formulating cosmetic products from scratch
